[ The sun is shining, the sky is blue, and everything about the garden seems almost surreal. There are roses and peonies and pretty yellow daffodils, birds chirping, and fancy fountains bubbling softly--it's all perfectly Utopian.

And there, on a blanket under a tree is a boy in a simple chiton, pulling neatly wrapped little packages of food out of a basket and setting them out. ]

That should be the last of it.

[She's probably considerably less simply-dressed -- it comes with the territory of being a daughter of Venus -- but she's peering from around the tree in any case, slightly impatient.]

Does that mean I can look yet, or not?

[ Carefully unwrapping the containers and spreading it all out buffet-style. A few finishing touches of flower petals and a couple of glasses, and he seems satisfied ]

[Coming around, then, and surveying the spread!]

You did this all yourself?

[ Reaching a hand up to invite her to sit ]

Mmm, most of it. I had a little bit of help.

[Taking it and sitting as neatly as possible so as not to ruin the line of the nice dress she's wearing.]

I'll have to figure out who and thank them, too.

[ Look at him politely offering tea ]

A couple of kids from the 5th.

Hazel and Frank?

[ just pointing a finger to his nose ]

Hazel helped with the actual cooking part.

[Laughing a little and taking her tea.]

I thought as much.

And Frank's a good packer!

That he is. He'll get his own reward.

He got it already. I sorta helped him with a thing for Hazel. I have to watch after family, after all.

Another one won't kill him.

I'm certain he'll appreciate it.

[ Continuing to unwrap some of these dishes because oh so much food ]

Salad, or sandwich?

Sandwich. But first ...

[Leaning over to give him a kiss, because that can't go undone.]

[ Sandwich in hand but kisses more important!! ]

[And she is very good at this, so you really can't lose either way.]

[powerisyours]

[ Very, very good at this and it is always more than enough to get him to breathe a happy, content sigh and rest his free hand on her knee ]

[It's a perk of dating daughters of Venus. She'll pull away eventually, though, and take that sandwich.]

[ He's almost pouting when she pulls back but he'll just sit up straight, a herp-derp smile on his face and humming to himself when he pulls out a sandwich for himself ]

So, what have I done to deserve this kind of treat?

Do I need a reason?

[ unwrapping his sandwich and taking a big bite, hmm'ing thoughtfully ]

Most people would.

[Taking a much daintier bite of her own.]

A reason other than that I would like to spend some uninterrupted time with the person I love?

[ Chew, swallow, another bite; he does have one big appetite ]

I suppose it depends on who you ask.
