[ In years past, he'd simply made a cake and wrapped a few gifts and waited around until the birthday girl came back so that he could attempt to spoil her (and usually only succeed in making her mad and/or sad).

This year, however, he's changing it up a bit--the sun's just barely starting to rise and he's already puttering around as quietly as he can in the kitchen area, scraping together what will eventually presumably become someone's breakfast.

The someone who'll wake up to not only a big, steaming mug of coffee, but a full breakfast and one big, dumb, smiling boy roughly five inches from her face. ]
