Canon: Set in a universe where 12 dimensions exist side-by-side, The X-Family takes place in one such dimension - the Iron Dimension. The Iron Dimension holds two types of people: magical and non-magical, and is surprisingly normal for a place where the fourth wall is kicked down brick-by-brick, the citizens' main worry is whether or not the script writer will write them out of the show and guitar-shredding is a perfectly acceptable form of offensive attack. However, despite the seemingly peaceful surface, trouble is brewing between the forces of good and evil - and the only one who has a chance at restoring peace is the "Savior of Dimensions". The X-Family follows a young man, Xia Tian, on his journey from being a normal non-magic-using high schooler to the universe's strongest magic user. In order to attain this power and defeat the evil forces, he needs the help of his friends, family, and the series' strangely young version of the Minister of Magic.

As the ruler of the Iron Dimension's magical society, Jiu Wu is extremely hard-working and takes his role of protecting the dimension and its magical inhabitants very seriously. Despite the heavy responsibilities he bears, he still manages to get into plenty of silly teenage mischief and is generally quite friendly. He loves to tell terrible jokes to "lighten" the mood and regularly gives his stomach a fantastic workout by eating foods most people would classify as toxic waste. As per the requirements of his position, he is extremely magically gifted - from simple things such as telepathic communication, to shapeshifting, to having the ability to safely travel between dimensions via the Dimensional Door. However, his power is a double-edged sword, as using it too often or for too long leaves him physically exhausted to the point of collapse.

Notes: As the essential boss man of the Iron Dimension, Jiu Wu is referred to by 99.8% of the cast by his title, Meng Zhu, rather than his given name. In addition, the characters make frequent use of VTR's (Video Taped Recordings) to explain certain situations, or to rewind/fast forward to information they need.

Sample Post: This doesn't look like the right dimension. Did the Dimensional Door break? Should I have made a left at the last dimension? When in doubt, check the subtitles out. Let's see, "Camp Dimension: the dimension where Marcy likes to get in touch with you." Not the most accurate of subtitles, but it'll do for now. Maybe I should rewind the scene to look for any other subtitles that might have popped up while I wasn't paying attention. Ah, here we go. "Camp for Un-Fucking Dimensional Doors". I guess that answers that question. So... how am I going to get home? My stand-in doesn't have the power to maintain the balance of the dimension for more than a few a days. But this place doesn't seem nearly as ruined as some of the other dimensions I've been to, so maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to find a way out of here soon.

It's not like I was planning on staying for long to begin with. I guess I can give the others a call to say I'm doing an educational survey on the effects of rifts on Dimensional Doors. That sounds really official, and significantly less useless than "Hi the Dimensional Door broke send help please". ...All right, my phone isn't working. And this place seems to block telepathic communication with weird porn ads. I feel insulted, somehow. Ah, well, when their benevolent leader doesn't show up for dinner, they'll send someone after me. Maybe. Though, I'm getting pretty hungry, and I certainly can't do anything about my situation if I sit around complaining about it.

I wonder if the VTR can tell me where I can find some dinner? Or I guess I can trust the toucan and follow my nose. Well, if all else fails, there are plenty of woodland critters to eat. The squirrels look pretty tasty and the ducks can cook themselves! Hahaha. The VTR isn't telling me anything I actually want to know, so I guess exploring for myself wouldn't hurt . . . if this damn goat would stop trying to eat my pants. I'll eat you before I let you eat me, Mr. C. Hircus. I'm Jiu Da Zhang Lao Wu, Meng Zhu of the Iron Dimension, and I won't be taken down so easily. I'm the boss. That's right, keep walking or you'll become my snack. Kids these days have no respect. Though now that I think about it, Cold Noodle Toucan Beak Goat Testicle Squid Ink Congee sounds fantastic. Time to make like one of these ducks and get quackin'.

Or that's what I would say if I knew where I was going. But I'm pretty sure I can smell something similar to the stuff this lady back home makes. Smells like . . . tomato soup with gorilla brains, squirrel gallbladder, parsley and a hint of --some sort of liver? I'm always up for trying new things! Mmmm. Well, whatever it is, I'll find it, because it smells absolutely divine and I'm way too wiped out from the trip here to wait. Seems like it's coming from somewhere behind that clump of trees, so if I just follow this path past the guy gnawing on his own leg, I should be able to find it. Yet clearly me doing that is a signal for him to come over here and-- hey, there, what's with that hungry look in your eyes? Tsk, tsk, do you think I can't see your friends rounding up behind you? I really shouldn't be doing this before I've eaten, but if it's what I need to do, energy be damned. Let's see you try to catch something you can't reach. [ Medical Info ] his power is a double-edged sword, as using it too often or for too long leaves him physically exhausted to the point of collapse. if he completely loses his Yi Neng - whether through camp happenings or he uses all of his energy - he'll be physically weak as a kitten and even simple lifting/carrying of things would be difficult. Being a water elemental, his body temperature is a bit lower than a normal person's and he gets cold easily.

[ Physical traits ] Aaron Yan. His left ear is pierced, but he's otherwise normal-looking? Almost always wearing long sleeves and/or a jacket.

[ What's Okay To Mention Around Him/Her ] Anything, up to and including 4th-wall/meta stuff because The X-Family does so love to break the fourth wall.

[ Abilities ] General: Super-speed, enhanced senses (sight and hearing), agility, energy beams, inhuman strength, telepathic communication & spellcasting. Special: Jiu Bu Qin Gui Shou (nine steps to capture a devil; an ability to attack his opponent's Achilles' Heel within nine steps), force field generation, shapeshifting & exorcism powers. He's particularly adept at capturing demons and spirits. More in-depth stuff can be found here. He heals quickly and he is able to do minor healing on other people (flesh wounds, maybe simple broken bones), but if it's too serious the best he can do is keep people alive without the help of another properly trained healer October in camp forced him to get better at it, so he's able to heal more severe wounds/broken bones, but it takes a lot out of him to do it, as in some cases he's basically transferring his own life force. His healing is more "returning it to its original state" so, say, you were burned and you had a scar under it from something else, the burn would go away, but the scar would remain.

He is the Iron Dimension's Original Power-User of Rain, and as such, he has an affinity for (and immunity to) water-based magic. He can also enhance the power of other water-based power users, particularly the Original Power-Users of alternate dimensions. This enhancement works in reverse, as well - his own power can be enhanced by channeling through other water users.

It should be noted that while he is basically a ridiculously overpowered godmode, he does have some weaknesses outside of having his energy zapped--as a lot (though not all) of spells are verbal, blocking sound waves or taking away his ability to speak will hinder him.

[ Notes for the Psychics ] xiu, master, iron imperial guards, 95 virtual building, ultimate iron man, xiong ge's cooking. He is able to communicate telepathically from great distances (KO3 shows he's able to project into/hear from another dimension), and he would prooobably notice if you tried getting into his head farther than surface thoughts, or tried to control his actions. In addition, he is able to use a spell (READ U MIND) that will allow him to do just that, and another spell (Heart Shift) that allows him to force the person it's cast on to do his bidding. He's not likely to use either one unless absolutely necessary, though.

[ Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc? ] yes, so long as you don't mind him possibly shapeshifting into you. just keep in mind that he's one of the most chill mofos on the planet, so it's *really* hard to get him angry or pick a fight with him (though he will occasionally troll people). he treats pretty much everyone nicely, even when they're jerks to him. the first two, say something to me and I'll usually be totally cool with it. the rest, have at 8D

[ Maim/Murder/Death ] all of it. just give me a heads up.

[ Hugging/kissing/other non-violent physical contact ] Yes! He's super touchy-feely if he thinks he can get away with it, and he's a total cuddlemonster. He might look at you weirdly if you try to kiss him and he doesn't know you, but he's not likely to complain. That said, give him your tinies, he will big brother and headpet and snuggle and spoil them.

[ Cooking ] He prefers Xiong Ge's. Cooking skills are about limited to instant noodles and sandwiches.

[ Timezone/Language ] Pacific: gmt -8 (California). My work schedule is really wonky day and time-wise. I'm usually six days a week with one day off (though it's almost never the same from week to week). Since I got moved into a department instead of working the front end my schedule's a liiiitle more stable (usually off between 6 and 10pm, unless our usual closer is on vacation...), but there are days when I'm scheduled up front and could get off anywhere from 3pm to midnight. I'm in class from 7-10pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 9am-4pm Fridays. I may have accidentally missed the notification. same goes if you reply to a thread I'm working on with someone else and seemingly get ignored - I get threaded notifications, but I don't always open them immediately, so 99.9% chance I just missed seeing you replied.

If I or one of my characters says or does something you're not okay with, please let me know (via pm/gchat/email/aim/irc/whatever). I try to ask or take a peek at people's perms/etc before doing anything, but sometimes I slip up. I'd rather be told as soon as it happens so I can fix as necessary (even if it means retconning or deleting things in a thread) than for it to become a problem that makes things fun for no one.
